In 1978, my father brought home a new contraption. It wasn’t a game, and it wasn’t a television. I sat in front of the keyboard of the TRS-80 Model 1, and opened up the friendly little book on How To Program. My very first application was of a giant that approached a large building, which fired a gun to destroy the giant. Not very exciting, mind you, and I have never been good at graphic arts, but it did start me along the path.

This gave me the experience I needed to start at my first programming job in 1983. We modified existing applications to suit the customized needs of many local businesses.

Following that, I spent about 8 years in the US Navy, as an Electronics Technician / Nuclear Reactor Operator. My computer talents were quickly put to work aboard ship writing training and testing applications in dBase, as well as acting as the shipboard data security officer.

Back in the real world, I moved through the corporate world, working for Fortune 50 corporations and international law firms. I spent my days writing applications, training, writing documentation, maintaining servers and vendor applications, and holding a lot of hands through the trials and tribulations of change.

• 13 Years experience in Internet/Intranet development; HTML, DHTML, Web servers.
• 10 Years experience in Java, Active Server Pages, and Microsoft SQL Server.
• 7 Years experience using XML.
• Fluent in Java, SQL, Paradox, Access, Excel, Lotus, Wordperfect, Outlook, Word.
• Experienced in many other languages, including PHP, ASP, ASP.Net, Visual Basic, C#
