The Fool's Journey
The Hanged Man - 12
Each of us must sacrifice in order to gain. The Hanged Man can represent two things. One being the sacrificed man, or things we give up to gain wisdom. He can also represent a time of waiting. A time of indecision. Or perhaps something else entirely.
Death - 13
The original death card was not labeled, for fear of even saying the word. This card's meaning is fairly obvious, but death can also represent a transformation, for that is what physical death really is. Also, the unusual posture of the figure is not without meaning. When changed to a stick figure, he becomes a glyph for the symbol of the planet Saturn, long associated with the underworld.
